Dr. Sriram Krishnamoorthy works as Professor & Senior Consultant in the Department of Urology at Sri Ramachandra Medical College in Chennai. His specialist qualifications include MS in General Surgery, MCh in Urology and DNB in Urology and the prestigious Fellowship from Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians, Glasgow, United Kingdom. Dr. Sriram excelled in academics and was the National Topper (Country First) and Gold Medalist in the DNB (Urology) final examination of the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi, in 2005.

After obtaining his M.Ch (Urology) degree from The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, he joined the Department of Urology at the prestigious Christian Medical College Hospital (CMCH), Vellore in 2005. The Urology department at CMCH is rated as one of the world’s best Urology training and treatment centers.


While his tenure at CMC Vellore, he completed his Diplomate in National Board exams, where he stood COUNTRY FIRST (NATIONAL TOPPER) and received the prestigious Dr. H.S. Bhat Gold Medal. Dr. Sriram continued to stay on at CMC until 2009. His special interests are Reconstructive Urology, Redo Urethroplasties, and Renal Transplantation. His research in the field of Renal transplantation fetched him the coveted First Prize for the Best paper presentation in the ISOT (Indian Society of Organ Transplantation) held in Agra in 2007.

His research paper on Transplant renal artery stenosis was published in our National Journal, the Indian Journal of Urology (IJU) and was adjudged the best publication (Original research article for the year) in IJU for 2009. He has over 16 years of experience in the field of Urology.

After getting trained in renal transplantation and complex urethral surgeries from CMC Vellore, he joined Sri Ramachandra Medical College in Chennai in March 2009, as Assistant Professor in the Department of Urology. The Department of Urology and Renal Transplantation of Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute is an ISO 9001:2000 certified department. This is one of the very few Urology departments in the country that has this unique distinction.

Since its inception in 1995, SRMC has followed a path of continued growth in both clinical and academic urology work, being one of the centers doing large volumes of live related and cadaver renal transplants in India. Dr. Sriram was promoted to Associate Professor and later served as Additional Professor in the interim period before he assumed his current post of Professor in 2016.


The photo above was the occasion where our respected and beloved Chancellor of Sri Ramachandra University awarded a Gold Medal and a certificate, congratulating those who had finished their 10 years of association with the University.

Dr. Sriram has more than 75 articles to his name in various national and international journals, several of which are peer-reviewed and PubMed indexed with high impact factor.

He has also contributed as co-author, in various chapters/sub-chapters to a textbook on Nephrology and other text books. He is a Peer Reviewer for several medical journals and is an Editorial Board Member for the South Asian Journal of Nephrology, Urology & Transplantation, and the Austin Journal of Urology (USA).

He also served and continues to serve as an Editorial commitee member for many reputed International Journals, including Austin Journal of Urology (USA), The Urology & Nephrology Journal and Journal of Annals of Urologic Oncology.
